PMID to Citation

Paste a PubMed ID and get a formatted citation in APA or AMA style. Metadata comes directly from the NCBI PubMed database.

How to convert a PMID to a citation

A PMID (PubMed ID) is the unique number PubMed assigns to every article. Enter it above and the tool fetches the article's title, journal, authors and publication date from NCBI, then formats them into APA 7th edition and AMA 11th edition citations.

Where to find a PMID: it appears at the bottom of PubMed search results, and it is usually printed under the abstract on the journal's website. You can also paste a PMID into LitSource Verify to check whether the reference actually supports your claim — this free tool formats the citation, Verify checks the evidence.
