Free Citation Checker — Verify References & DOIs

Free citation checker for a pasted reference list. See which entries look real or fake, and whether each DOI resolves, before you sign in.

How it works

  1. Paste a reference list, one citation per line. Keep any DOI you already have.
  2. Press Check. The first references are compared with Crossref, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, and PubMed records before any sign-in prompt.
  3. Read the table. Real means the core record matched. Review means the match is incomplete. Fake means the identifier conflicts with the record we found.
  4. Open a resolved DOI and read the paper before you cite it.

What we check

  • Whether a DOI resolves to a publication record.
  • Whether the title, year, and authors agree with that record.
  • Whether an entry looks fabricated or only partly matched.
  • We do not format a bibliography here, and we do not decide whether the paper supports your claim.

Need to find papers from a Chinese sentence?

This page checks a reference list you already pasted. To start from a Chinese sentence and look for real papers, use the existing 反查文献 page. That Chinese reverse literature search is unchanged.
